The Seasons have shifted for me again. Just one year ago, I thought I was learning to see the light of Christ hidden within my days, resting within His holy slow for me. But then a darkness fell over me. I know now that it was a Holy Overshadowing–a nearness of His light shielding me so closely that I could not see a thing. The way forward was hidden from me then, as my husband began his own journey with a terminal illness.
But what I see now, one year later, is a new season where the hand of Jesus has reached out to me. Like a baby bird so dependent on the next meal his parent will bring, I’ve become that hungry child again. Strange, as I feel my creeping age at the same time.
In every changing season, in every shift of our life, He goes before us. After all, He is the one who tore the curtain, the only one truly worthy to enter the temple’s most HOLY place, there to make mercy’s atonement for us.
And in His atoning, my eyes and my tongue have been washed anew.
What I see — what I long to see — is being transformed.
Now we do see Jesus … Hebrews 2:9
And what I taste — what I so long to taste — has been transformed…
Oh taste and see that the Lord is good … Psalm 34:8
He is the hidden manna, forever reminding us that the true Bread of Heaven given by the Father was not just reserved for those ancient desert wanderers. No, He is our only life even here, new each morning, our daily bread.
Within His Glory, overshadowing my every moment, I am being led and fed by Him.
Are you feeling a shift in your seasons? Would you join in praying today?
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You for feeding us with the true Bread of Heaven. Thank You for sending that bread, our Risen Saviour, to tear the curtain, to make atonement for us.
Will You open our eyes to see Jesus, our Hidden Manna, within our moments, within our days? We so long to taste the goodness of You, our only life and sustenance here.
Forgive us for the times we have said you deserted us. For it was in those very moments that you were closest of all — making the way clear before us, preparing a table in the Presence of our enemies. Uncover our eyes that we might see You here, even today, in this shifting-season place.
We so love You, our Abba, Father. We love You our Risen Savior. And we love You our Holy Spirit, our precious only God!
In Your Name we pray, Amen.
