30 Days of Birthing Shalom – “Get Up, Pick Up Your Mat and Walk”

24 days ago, I layed down this blog on the altar in obedience to God’s prompting. Today, He is compelling me to “Get up, pick up your mat and walk.” into the new with Him. Into a newborn faith of self-sufficiency in Him alone, believing I can do all things through Him, who strengthens me.

And so, today, I am excited to begin sharing a book of poetry and visual beauty with you: Birthing Shalom – Get Up, Pick Up Your Mat and Walk. Each day, for the next 30 days, I will share a poem, a Scripture, a blessing and a photo of beauty from my personal collection that reflects the birthing of Shalom – the Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus – in our hearts and midst.

I bless us to see God’s fingerprints upon our heart and journey. May we, by the power of the Holy Spirit and the holy Word of God open our eyes to see, prepare our feet to walk, pick up our mat (shed the old) and walk into the heavenly peace that is ours in Christ Jesus.

Come, let’s follow Christ’s call to us to get up, pick up our mat and walk into the shalom that is ours in Christ Jesus, our Prince of Peace, the Word made flesh who was and is and is to come. May He be glorified in our midst, as we bow the knee before Him each day afresh to confess Him LORD of all.

Day 1 – Eternity’s Glowing

Taken 5 May, 2016. The 5th of May is “Bevrijdingsdag” in the Netherlands. The day we celebrate the Netherlands being liberated from Nazi occupation by the allied forces.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Psalm 84:11 KJV

Today, I bless us to see the sun and shield of our Lord God in our obedient yielding to His will. I bless us to see the open door of grace and glory that has been set before us in our decision to surrender what He has called us to. I bless us to shed our fleshly thinking for the living and active Word of our God to us. I bless us to walk forward into Christ Jesus, our Way, Truth and Life, into the good gifts He has set before us.

What if
I've learnt
To expect
The worst?

To look for
Abandonment
In my every
Surrender?

For proof
Of You
Turning away
From me?

But what if
My yielding
Is You turning
My face

Toward You
Cleaving me
Circumcising
My heart

To steadfast
Love to
See life
In death

Awaking
Making
Straight
My paths

In goodness
And mercy
Withholding
Nothing good

From me
In yielding
My life
For love

To give
You glory
Honor and
Power

To invite You
To break open
A newborn
Faith in me

To prepare
My feet with
The gospel
Of peace

To run
In the path
Of Your
Commands

To enlarge
My heart
To love You
Whole-heartedly

In truth
And grace
To see my
Setting apart

As Your
Waking up
To eternity's
Glowing.
