Day 3: To Be Still

11 May 2020: A little bouquet our then 7-year old daughter showed up with one day, having gathered it up from the ground outside to give it to me, with her little face beaming with great pleasure. What she didn’t know was that she was God’s answer to prayer that day. His reply through our daughter, moments after I prayed, deeply touched my heart.

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Psalm 46:10 NKJV

Today, I bless us to be still and know God is God and will be exalted among the nations and in the earth. I bless our consciences with a cleansing by the blood of the lamb from dead works that we may wake up to serve the living God. I bless us in Christ Jesus to strap to our feet the preparation of the Gospel of peace. I bless us to taste and see that the LORD is good. I bless us with the grace of God given to us through the Spirit of our LORD Jesus Christ to discern and take ahold of every opportunity He gifts us to redeem the time in His Name and calling, to know Him and make Him known to all.

You speak sweetest

When I still

To listen

When in my bosom

I find the honey

Of Your Word to me

Waiting there for me.

No striving to hear

No anxiously clinging

To You or to man

But stilling

And entrusting

My soul

To Your delight.

For when multiple

Anxious thoughts

Assail me

Your consolations

Are my delight

As I still my soul

To listen to Your Word.

To rest and know

You in the silence

In Your invitation

To lay down one by one

My cares and worries

And exchange them

For Your Word to me.

To receive Your heart

Of returning and rest

In our Father's

Sovereign care

To know what the enemy

Meant for evil

You meant for good.

Yes, now, I know

Whom I have believed

And am convinced

You're able to guard

Until that day

All You have

Entrusted to me.

Thank You for

Yielding my heart

To be still

For redeeming the time

In a well of living water

Springing up to

Eternal life.

  1. Oh such a sweet gift from your daughter, right after you prayed! And this is one of my favorites of all your poems. I receive those blessings of stillness and honey from Him now. Amen. Blessings and love to you today too.
