Day 8: Glory

A photo I took recently of the sky on my way home from the forest that spoke to me of the glory and majesty of our God, the Maker of the heavens and the earth.

“Comfort and keep comforting my people,” says your God. “Tell Yerushalayim to take heart; proclaim to her that she has completed her time of service, that her guilt has been paid off, that she has received at the hand of Adonai double for all her sins.” A voice cries out: “Clear a road through the desert for Adonai! Level a highway in the ‘Aravah for our God! Let every valley be filled in, every mountain and hill lowered, the bumpy places made level and the crags become a plain. Then the glory of Adonai will be revealed; all humankind together will see it, for the mouth of Adonai has spoken.” A voice says, “Proclaim!” And I answer, “What should I proclaim?” “All humanity is merely grass, all its kindness like wildflowers: the grass dries up, the flower fades, when a wind from Adonai blows on it. Surely the people are grass! The grass dries up, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.” You who bring good news to Tziyon, get yourself up on a high mountain; you who bring good news to Yerushalayim, cry out at the top of your voice! Don’t be afraid to shout out loud! Say to the cities of Y’hudah, “Here is your God! Here comes Adonai Elohim with power, and his arm will rule for him. Look! His reward is with him, and his recompense is before him. He is like a shepherd feeding his flock, gathering his lambs with his arm, carrying them against his chest, gently leading the mother sheep.”

Yesha ‘yahu (Isa) 40:1‭-‬11 CJB

Today, I bless us to open our eyes, by the power of the Living Word, to the eternal and unfading beauty, glory and power of our mighty God – living and breathing inside of each of us. I bless us to be filled with a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit that we might see and receive God’s comfort, tenderness and grace to us in every place of wounding, desolation and pain.

May we deep down know that our warfare has ended and that all our iniquity has been pardoned for. May we now open our hands in faith to receive the restoration of the years that the locust ate, the cankerworm and the caterpillar and the palmer worm, God’s great army which He sent among us for His eternal purposes. I bless us to open our mouths to now eat the plenty the Lord has given us, until we are full, and to praise the name of the Lord our God, who has worked wonders for us. May we rejoice in the knowledge that never again will we, God’s people, be shamed.

I hear Him whisper
"Watch these
My birds
They sing
And soar
Surrendered there
To winds I send.

"And so it is with you
Not condemnation
But love so true
These winds have sent
To sweep you
High above
Where all your sowing
Reaping, hoarding

"In heavenly places
You'll now begin
To breathe
In My breath
Made new
Your heart of flesh
In Christ
Set free.

"Carried away
On these
My everlasting arms
Watch My Son
Now rising

"Trials, tears and
Broken bread
Watch Him
Lift unto the Father
Now in thanks
Your laments
In praise

"See His face
In your own
Cupping now
Your tears
His tears
In incense
Wafting high.

"In grace awash
Your new
Trusting heart
In Spirit breath

"The sword of life
Each accusation
My Body broken
Your broken body

"Fly my precious girl
Uncaged and free
Let that broken
Contrite heart
Now lead you
To the Cross
Each day anew.

"Taste there
My steadfast
Love and mercy
My Body broken
My cup pouring
Each day afresh.

"Watch now
Your Promise
My every Word
In abiding fruit

"Born in my Son's
Own yielding
Your every surrender
An eternal lot

"My bride betrothed
See My storehouse
Breaking open
Gifts of grace
In abundant grain
Now pouring.

"My Voice in you
In My blood
Set free
Songs of deliverance
In wings of glory
