Day 12: The Resurrection and the Life

A photo my daughter took, as I encouraged her to go looking for beauty: a practice God taught me through grieving my Mum’s earthly loss and a practice that now continually reminds me of God’s Presence with me and the hope that is ours in Him.

I was unsure of how to go about this, and felt totally inadequate—I was scared to death, if you want the truth of it—and so nothing I said could have impressed you or anyone else. But the Message came through anyway. God’s Spirit and God’s power did it, which made it clear that your life of faith is a response to God’s power, not to some fancy mental or emotional footwork by me or anyone else.

1 Corinthians 2:3‭-‬5 MSG

I bless us to know that the Lamb of God sits upon His throne and shall be glorified in our midst, as we lean upon Him in our weakness and need. I bless us to receive with gladness and speak with boldness the Word God gives us, boasting in our weakness to His glory. I bless us to glory in the truth that we, who are united with the Messiah, get a fresh start, that we are created new and that our old life is gone and our new life is ever emerging.

I bless us and those around us to see and celebrate what the LORD has done and is doing in our lives and hearts. I bless us to see the gift of God’s boundaries and the surrenders He has wrought in us that have grown and are continuing to grow our trust in Him. I bless us to continue to lay ahold of the new life that is ours in Christ Jesus, a life abounding in and abiding in the compassion and grace of our God that sets us free from all condemnation.

You tell me
Trust is a muscle
You tell me
Is feeling
And stretching
The heart
Of flesh
You have

You tell me
This contracting
Is Your labor
Trust in me
Bringing the peace
Of Your pacing
Your holy awakening
In my inhale
And exhale.

You remind me
It's in the releasing
In the yielding
To Your will
I can experience the fruit
And taste
The ravenous joy
Of living secure
By mercy.

You remind me
You're not withholding
The good
But only awakening
The best
An abundance
Of longing and hunger
You've planted deep
To know
Love everlasting.

You remind me
To not cower in shame
But in boldness
To move
To believe
My each and every
Change of mind
Departing the old
For the new
Is beautiful to You.

For, it's You
Who's moved my feet
Out of the mire
And onto the Rock
To shake off the dust
And behold
Your face
For You've
Ripped the veil
At the Cross
Your face in mine
Now ever revealing.

Yes, I will willingly
Bow my knees
In Your humbling
To drink the cup
Eagerly awaiting
Your sovereign completion
For, in the breaking
Of the bread
And this cup of life
I now recognize You
My Portion and Deliverer
The Resurrection and the Life.

While our eldest took that photo, our youngest was making me a crown (which our oldest captured on camera here).
