Day 16: Sinking into Jesus

One of my favorite places to “sink” into Jesus and His righteousness for me. This is where I love to walk and pray, to hear and feel God speak and breathe fresh hope, faith and love into my heart, body and soul. By His Word and Spirit He keeps opening my blinded by sin eyes to see Him again and to give Him all the honor, glory and praise.

12 Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, 13 accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive. 14 Above all, put on love—the perfect bond of unity.

Colossians 3:12-14 (HCSB)

“put on” =  1746a. enduó  Strong’s Concordance: enduó: to clothe or be clothed with (in the sense of sinking into a garment) [my emphasis] Source:

I bless us to sink into Jesus as our garment of praise, to take eat of His Word to us that covers us and binds all brokenness together into wholeness. I bless us to see ourself as He does: as a chosen and purposed part of His Body: not as being set aside by Jesus, but as being set apart unto Him and His glorious purposes.

I bless us to see how He is empowering us to hold all He gives us loosely, to surrender ourselves and man into His safe and capable hands, setting our eyes upon what is above and not upon the perishing things of this earth. I bless us to see how He is teaching us, like King David, to dance with abandon in Jesus. I bless us to let His love lead our every step. I bless us to sink into the love of God that binds everything together in perfect eternal peace.

I dance here in abandon
The lover of my soul
He calls me forth
Wild and free
I AM is He.

Pointing fingers
Cutting words
Shaming stares
Our accuser can't tame
These Gospel feet.

My childlike heart
The Father hears
No fear me withholds
For my Abba Father's
Love holds me still.

Safe here in His arms
I sway
The breath of Life
My every step
Now leads.

A dwelling place
In His arms I find
Awaking in His Spirit breath
Each day afresh, I now know
I AM forever Home.

Yes, I dance here in abandon
The lover of my soul
Does call me forth
Wild and free
The Great I AM is He.

This is a song I sung as a teenager, tears streaming, as I was walking through trauma from spiritual abuse. As I prepared this post, it sprung up afresh in my heart, as I wept yet again, seeing God’s incredible faithfulness to me my whole life long and His continuing patient and tender healing of my heart. He never ever let’s us go:

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
