Day 22: Jesus – God’s Righteousness Revealed

Beauty blooming amongst the thorns in our neighborhood, September 2018.

The Bride’s Admiration

“I am the rose of Sharon,
The lily of the valleys.”

The Groom

“Like a lily among the thorns,
So is my darling among the young women.”

The Bride

My beloved is mine, and I am his;
He pastures his flock among the lilies.
Until the cool of the day, when the shadows flee,

Turn, my beloved, and be like a gazelle

Or a young stag on the mountains of Bether.”

Song of Solomon 2:1-2,16-17

I bless us to bless Jesus, God’s righteousness revealed. I bless us in every thorn in our flesh, in every accusation of condemnation hurled at us by the messenger of Satan, to remember Jesus. I bless us to give thanks to God, our Father, to break the bread, the Body of Christ, and take eat. I bless us to lift up the cup of life in thanksgiving and to drink deeply of the new covenant of mercy: the blood of Jesus shed for us all. I bless us to proclaim the LORD’s death until He comes to take us, His Beloved Bride, home.

In the thorns piercing
Again and again and again

I remember
My shame.

But You
You remember
A covenant new.

You remember
Your steadfast love
For Your Bride.

You remember
Your blood
Shed at the Cross.

You remember

You remember

And now
You're teaching me
To remember too

To remember
Your Word.

To remember
A crown of thorns piercing
Again and again and again.

To remember
Love pouring forth
From a Cross.

To remember

To remember
A cloak.

To remember
A ring.

To remember
A table set
In the presence of my enemies.

To remember
Pouring on my head.

To remember
In each and every thorn
I have always found
And will always find
More of

Grace upon grace

New every morning

That faileth not.

In my faithlessness

Perfect Love
Casting out my fears

Perfected in my weakness.

For, You're teaching me
To embrace you

My Husband
My Maker

The Lover of my soul
My Best Friend
My Rock and Redeemer.

My Savior
My Shield
My Refuge and the
Lifter of my head.

My Sword of truth
My Helmet of salvation
My Shield of faith
My Breastplate of righteousness

And my Shoes of peace.

In all

In the thorns piercing
Again and again and again

I will remember You
God's righteousness revealed.

[…] The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 NIV

  1. “You remember

    And now
    You’re teaching me
    To remember too”

I long so much to have my heart opened to remember through HIS eyes of redemption. This is so beautiful Anna. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Me too, Bettie. He’s been bringing that opening more and more, but oh how I long for an even deeper seeing, knowing and tasting of His redemption, by His Spirit. Come, LORD, Jesus come and pour out your Spirit upon us afresh.
