Republished: In All Your Doing

May this bless you, as it did me in re-reading it in my journal today, celebrating God’s great mercy to me.

In All Your Doing

The Bread breaks
One by one
We gather
Your sheep
The fold
Of Your pasture.

We come
The hungry
And the thirsty
Not knowing
We hunger
And thirst
For You alone.

So You lead us
To lie down
In green pastures green
That seem
Anything but green
Until in our
Bedding down
Your vision
Becomes our own.

Oh how our eyes
Open to the abundance
That's always
Been ours
Oh how forgetful
Our souls
Oh how gracious
Your reminders
In the laying
Down.

Verbs aplenty
In Psalm 23
Every doing Word
But three
Are Yours.

Yes, You ARE
Our Shepherd
You MAKE us
To lie down
You LEAD us
You RESTORE us
You ARE with us
You PREPARE a table
Before us
You ANOINT our head
With oil
Your goodness and mercy
PURSUES us
All the days of our lives.

All we do is:
WALK THROUGH
The valley of the
Shadow of death to
DWELL in Your house
Forever
And in all
YOUR doing FOR us
We shall
NOT WANT!

“And I am beginning to see that it is out of a low place that one can best believe.”

Lilias Trotter as quoted in A Passion for the Impossible by Miriam Huffman Rockness, p.159

“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts.

Malachi 3:1 (ESV)

You are a hiding place for me;

    you preserve me from trouble;

you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Psalm 32:7-8 (ESV)
