30 Days of Birthing Shalom – “Get Up, Pick Up Your Mat and Walk” [edited & updated]

A few months ago, I layed down this blog on the altar in obedience to God’s prompting, at the time, thinking, just as I did with Instagram, that it was forever. But then, as those of you have been following me for a while saw, God compelled me to “Get up, pick up [my] mat and walk.” into the new with Him. Into a newborn faith of self-sufficiency in Him alone, believing I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

In that sufficiency He had me share a book of poetry and visual beauty with you in: Birthing Shalom – Get Up, Pick Up Your Mat and Walk. Each day, over 30 days, I shared a poem, a Scripture, a blessing and a photo of beauty from my personal collection that reflects the birthing of Shalom – the Prince of Peace, Christ Jesus – in our hearts and midst.

For those of you being introduced to this book for the first time, I bless you and me also afresh to see God’s fingerprints upon our hearts and journeys. May we, by the power of the Holy Spirit and the holy Word of God have our eyes opened to see, and our feet prepared to walk that we all might pick up our mats (shedding the old) to walk into the peace – the joining of all essential parts into the whole – that is ours in Christ Jesus.

Praise our Prince of Peace, the Word made flesh who was and is and is to come. May He be glorified in our midst, as we bow the knee before Him, each day afresh to confess Him LORD of all. Not to us, LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, because of your faithful love, because of Your truth (Psalm 115:1 HCSB). How can I repay the LORD for all the good He has done for me. I will take the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people. The death of His faithful ones is valuable in the LORD’s sight. LORD, I am indeed Your servant, the [daughter] of your female servant [my mother]. You have loosened my bonds. I will offer a thanksgiving sacrifice and call on the name of the LORD. In the presence of all His people, in the courts of the LORD’s house – within you, Jerusalem. Hallelujah! (Psalm 116:12-13, from my life chapter).

Day 1 – Eternity’s Glowing

Taken 5 May, 2016. The 5th of May is “Bevrijdingsdag” in the Netherlands. The day we celebrate the Netherlands being liberated from Nazi occupation by the allied forces.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Psalm 84:11 KJV

Today, I bless us to see the sun and shield of our Lord God in our obedient yielding to His will. I bless us to see the open door of grace and glory that has been set before us in our decision to surrender what He has commanded and empowered us to. I bless us to shed our fleshly thinking for the living and active Word of our God to us. I bless us to walk forward into Christ Jesus, our Way, Truth and Life, into the good gifts He has set before us.

What if
I've learnt
To expect
The worst?

To look for
Abandonment
In every
Surrender?

For proof
Of You
Turning away
From me?

But what if
Every yielding
Is You turning
Our faces

Toward You
Cleaving us
Circumcising
Our hearts

To steadfast
Love to
See life
In death

Awaking
Making
Straight
Our paths

In goodness
And mercy
Withholding
Nothing good

From us
In yielding
YOUR life
For us

Oh I give
You glory
Honor and
Power

I invite You
To break open
A newborn
Faith in us all

Oh prepare
Our feet with
The gospel
Of peace

To run
In the path
Of Your
Commands

Oh enlarge
Our hearts
To love You
Whole-heartedly

In truth
And grace
To see our
Setting apart

As You
Waking us up
To eternity's
Glowing.

    1. Amen. May He prove once again His faithfulness to you and your family, and to me and my family too. I was thinking today about how unique each of our paths are and how easily we can get discouraged if we look to each other’s path, rather than to our Way who is leading each of us so uniquely and yet through those differences so perfectly into unity in His joining together of us all, piece by piece in His perfect and beautiful timing.
