Day 10: Filling the Earth

Welcome to Day 10 of 31 Days of Healing Leaves: Awaking Us All to the Glory of God in our Midst.

In honor of Georgina, my vicar’s wife, who visited me regularly the year after my Mum went to heaven, when I attended the Anglican church her husband shepherded. Each time Georgina visited she lived out this Promise and woke this Promise up in my own heart also: “the word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart”. She often came bearing the perfect Scriptures to hold onto and beautiful prayers in the Spirit that comforted my heart and helped me to entrust my sisters – who were starting their families without Mum (or me) at their side – into God’s hands. She helped me to return and rest and to be quiet and confident in God’s love.

Habukkuk 2:14 (KJV) For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Amos 9:6 It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name.

Filling The Earth

In returning
And rest
Was our salvation
In quietness
And confidence
Our strength

And yet
We would have
None of it
But that's
Where Christ
Entered in

Breaking the rules
Upon Him taking
All affliction and sin
Repairing our breach
And restoring
Our path

In righteousness
Us now clothing
To be still
And know
He alone
Is God

In returning
And rest, we are
Finding salvation
In quietness
And confidence
Our strength

For the Holy Spirit
Has shed abroad
Into our hearts
That we might
Now be raised

In the Father's love
The Son's heart
Becoming amongst
A people now
Returning home -
With us - in Christ

In the Father
In the Holy Spirit
Made One: awaking
To the knowledge
Of glory now
Filling the earth.

Isaiah 58:12 KJV
And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

  1. Amen such a precious confirmation of my Scripture reading this morning on this very thought– to rest in His presence. Praise God for the returning He carries us home to. Returning in His grace, returning in rest with Him. I love your redeeming poem. Thank you Jesus. And thank you dear Anna.
