Day 11: In You Alone

Welcome to Day 11 of 31 Days of Healing Leaves: Awaking Us All to the Glory of God in our Midst

In honor of the Velvet Ashes Connection Groups, who have, each year afresh, uncovered empty spaces in my heart that have been hungering and thirsting after the Word’s infilling. The living water of the Holy Spirit flowing out of them has been God’s refreshing touch, bringing comfort and awakening joy – an acknowledgement of God’s grace – in my heart. Joy and comfort that I have in turn been able to share with others around me.

John 7:38 ESV
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

Philemon 1:7 NIV
For I have derived much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you.

In You Alone

Oh our God
Our King
Our hearts
Hunger

And thirst
After thee
No earthly
Bread satisfies

No earthly
Well
Quenches
This crying

Out for a
Word from
You fitly
Spoken

Come fill
The empty
Spaces
Crying out

For Love's
Touch in
Your Spirit's
Overflowing

Oh Papa
Come release
Your living
Waters from

Your throne
Above let the
Rivers flow
And gush into

Our innermost
Being crying
Out for Your
Holy touch

Come
Holy Spirit
Come
Fall upon us

Come
Awaken us
To return
And rest

In quietness
And confidence
To find our
Strength

In You alone
Let waters
Of living water
Now flow in 'n

Out of us
Refreshing
Others in our
Refreshing

In You alone.

  1. I love this poem, Anna. It flows like His river even in the form it has taken. And it has a rhythm like the bubbling of a stream. Thank You Lord Jesus for speaking to us in ways that stir our hearts to see Your moving around and in us. We don’t even know how to express that thirsting that is within us until You show us. Amen.

    1. So true, Bettie. We don’t. We really don’t. Praise God for His mercy to us, for seeing what we don’t, for giving us what we don’t even realize we need. Thank you for being such a steady encouragement in my life. It means more than I can express. xoxo
