Welcome to Day 13 of 31 Days of Healing Leaves: Awaking Us All to the Glory of God in our Midst.
In honor of Echo and Courage and their new owners, my dear friend Wendy and her daughter Abby. Echo and Courage are rescue dogs, found starving and in the cold. One had kept the other alive, when his brother couldn’t walk anymore, because his feet were so torn up. Now, they are shining the belonging and compassion of Christ into Wendy and Abby’s home and hearts, as they (and Wendy’s three other now adult daughters) walk into another year without their husband and father at their side, who went to be with the LORD, after a battle with cancer.
Wendy’s vulnerable and faithful witness to others, like me, of God’s goodness and mercy pursuing her and her family through loss and grief, is only multiplying God’s grace. Through Christ’s witness in her, Wendy is clothing others of us in the belonging and compassion of Christ also, breathing new life into our dry and weary bones through the Spirit of God at work in her and through her.
Colossians 2:19 HCSB [...] the head, from whom the whole body, nourished and held together by its ligaments and tendons, develops with growth from God.
1 John 4:2 KJV
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
You Alone are LORD
Of this world
But in this
With You now
At our head
On dry bones
Into our body
